After a second USADA violation Jon Jones was looking at a possible 4 year suspension. That suspension has been reduced to 15 months, he will be able to return in the fall. This suspension is retroactive from the date of the failed sample, July 28th, 2017. He will be eligible to return October 28th. Meaning UFC 230 is a real possibility.
USADA CEO Travis T. Tygart said this in a statement
“The independent arbitrator found that Jon Jones was not intentionally cheating in this case, and while we thought 18-months was the appropriate sanction given the other circumstances of the case, we respect the arbitrator’s decision and believe that justice was served”
Jon Jones, his legal team and USADA representatives met with arbitrator Richard H. McLaren last Saturday. Richard H. McLaren made the decision to reduce Jon Jones suspension. He took into account that he had passed multiple out-of-competition drug tests leading up to UFC 214.
